This isn’t the car we need not the car we deserve. The only option I ticked was the upgrades radio, and remote start package

Why the Accord over the Civic?

The Civic has become a big car. The new Accord is gigantic. I would go with a Civic Turbo, or Si

But the Accord ugly now...

Same.

Is it Accord Sport day today on Oppo?

I think it’s rather handsome. At the very least it’s not a mess of faux-aggressive nonsensical vents and grates and angles.

I agree. I almost did drive that (albeit in white). But in the end, it was a little more than I wanted to pay (and dealers weren’t coming down much), so I went with a Civic Si instead. At times I think holding out for the Accord may have been a good decision, but I’m quite happy with the Si and have no real regrets. Plus, the new Civic is nearly as big as the Accord I replaced.

Can you get the Civic (not R) with the 2.0?
I’m hoping the R refresh tones down the styling some. Apparently it’s great to drive, but it’s just way too over- styled for my taste.

I have no idea on the engine choices. After I traded my Si for my C30 I haven’t given (new) Hondas a serious look.
I agree they are a bit much and rather large, but I don’t mind the styling. They chose a theme (overstyled car from an anime) and went with it. I think if it were toned down it would look like everything else on the road.

But what about Genesis G70?

As one of my friends who really likes his last gen Accord said... “it looks like *very large f riend name here* sat on it.”

You cannot get a Civic other than the type R with a Turbo 2.0. It’s either 2.0NA or 1.5 T for all other models including the Si.
Hopefully they put the Accord motor in a new Acura ILX, that’s your best bet.

In a world.....
...
where the GTI doesn’t exist.

The bunker-slit rear window and short, vertical windshield suck. Also the 19" wheels are guaranteed to be destroyed by our decaying roads, but overall those Accord Sports are nice cars. I think even the 1.5T would be fun with a stick.

That’s what I thought.
If you could still get a manual in an Acura...
![]() 07/17/2018 at 16:47 |

Only if it’s available used from the factory,
for under
$15
K, and a manual with the 6 cylinder
Turbo, and they remove that Genesis badge
,
and they put a BMW badge on it.
“Why
won’t manufacturers
give us what we want?!”

Honestly, it’s just a few little things for me: the red line wheels, the red line all the way around on the front lip/skirts/diffuser, and the red on the steering wheel. It’s just too much. I know it’s trivial, but if they make those things optional instead of the way it is on all of them, it would be on my list (not actually planning to buy another sports car for like 5 years...).

I don’t think it’s bad, especially when you consider every other Honda from the past decade.
But it still looks like a CC knockoff that we didn’t need . Or a car that wants to be a liftback, but can’t offend our whitebread sensibilities.
If wagon, I’d drive it.
![]() 07/17/2018 at 17:01 |

I would drive it, straight to the wheel store and then afterward.

I wanna drive a Kia Stinger, one of the stock ones with the 2-liter four-cylinder and see if it’ll drift.

This is a noble cause
![]() 07/17/2018 at 17:24 |

It does have the problem of looking liftback and not making due on that promise. But I forgave the MKZ for the same sin

It look better. Honestly that’s it

Ah maybe. But will it be under 30k our the door?

The wheels aren’t pretty that’s for sure.
![]() 07/17/2018 at 17:28 |

Supposedly it has thinner pillars and less whinsheild rake then the previous gen. That was one of the first things this I heard reviewers bragging about.

It’s really grown on me. The proportions are right, it looks strong without being over the top. And it’s not a Camry or Malibu.

agree - I am a bit away from needing a new ride, but it’s absolutely on my radar. Silver 2.0 6spd please. (But that red and bright blue are nice, it even looks good in the pearl white.)

I haven’t sat in the last generation recently , but I sat in new one at the NYIAS and that was my first major impression. The Camry felt like a 90's Honda in comparison. Maybe the way I had the seat and steering wheel set up made it feel more claustrophobic?
